No institution has its genesis in a vacuum and Our Lady of Consolation Girls' secondary school is not an exception. To the glory of God and for the betterment of humanity, this school was founded in 2009 at the initiative of Augustinian Sisters of the Mercy of Jesus in Jalingo. The school, officially opened its doors on the 14th September with 44 students and 15 staff members. The first Principal of OLC was Rev. Sr. Francisca Aboreng. She worked hand in glove with Mrs. Patricia Elkanah who was the first Vice Principal Academics of OLC. Rev. Sr. Francisca remained in office until early 2012. Mid way in 2012, Rev. Sr. Rose Otobo of blessed memory was appointed as the second Principal. Her stay in the office was brief as she was transferred to Shuwa and Rev. Sr. Esther John became the Acting Principal until April 2013. In April 2013, the third Principal Rev. Sr. Justina Adejoh, took up the post. She held this position from 2013 to 2022. It should be noted that Rev. Sr. Esther John is the current Principal of OLC.
Our Lady of Consolation Girls' Secondary School started with only three (3) classrooms, but due to its yearly intake of fresh students, deemed it necessary to expand. And within four (4) years of its existence, a storey building with 10 classrooms was built. In order to meet the demands of our scientific world, information technology and well researched students, three classrooms of the new block were converted to serve as science laboratory, library and computer laboratory. The school also has a very spacious field for sports and other extra curricula activities for both students and teachers.
Meanwhile, the management of OLC has remained committed to its objective of providing quality education to its students. Consequently, when the school requested in 2014 and 2015 for both WAEC and NECO centres the accreditations were successful and both centres were granted. Our Lady of Consolation Girls' Secondary School has as its Motto "Knowledge is Power". This is demonstrated in the academic progress of the school since its inspection.
